Growth v Fixed mindset
18 September 2015
There is research evidence to show that children and adults will make more progress and enhance learning if they have a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset. These are the findings of Carol Dweck who has determined the characteristics of people with fixed and growth mindsets. You can see these below.
The children have been taught that it is fine to make mistakes as long as they learn from them and that intelligence isn't fixed and that the harder they try, the more they will succeed. You will see displays around school which support this approach and we would be grateful if parents can support these messages at home.
