Candidate 1 - Laura Wallace

As a dedicated parent I am passionate about helping every child reach their full potential. I want to become a Parent Governor to contribute to the school’s vision of providing an inclusive, nurturing, and high quality education for all pupils.

I have professional experience and understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, vulnerable children, and safeguarding, which I believe would add value to the governing board. I understand the importance of supporting pupils’ wellbeing alongside academic progress, and the role that strong pastoral care plays in enabling success.

I am fully committed to the governing board’s strategic functions, ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and direction; holding the headteacher to account for educational outcomes; overseeing the effective use of resources; and ensuring all voices are heard.

I bring strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills, with a balanced approach to challenge and support. I take confidentiality seriously, value collective decision making, and am always willing to learn and develop.

Above all, I am motivated by a genuine commitment to improving education and outcomes for every pupil, ensuring the school continues to be a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all.

Candidate 2 - Joe Mortimer

I am applying to become a Parent Governor to support the long-term success of the school by contributing to its strategic direction and ethos. I believe every child deserves the best possible education, and I want to help ensure that continues to be the case at our school.

As a parent of two children currently in Reception and Year 1, I've had a very positive experience with the school so far. It is well run, well maintained, and my children are thriving both academically and socially.

Professionally, I have worked in financial services for the past eight years, where I've developed strong leadership, communication, financial literacy, and strategic thinking skills. While I don't have prior governance experience, I am confident that my professional background and commitment to learning will allow me to contribute effectively.

I value integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and transparency - principles I believe are essential in any governance role. I am committed to attending meetings and school activities, and I will dedicate my time to supporting the school's development.

I also believe in the importance of the relationship between parents and schools. Parents play a vital role in a child's development, and I want to ensure that all voices are heard and respected, even when decisions are difficult. I hope to represent the parent community with fairness and openness, always keeping the best interests of the children at heart.

Candidate 3 - Tara Smith

Firstly I’d like to start by saying as a busy mother of 3 young children I feel my input and opinions on the education & funding throughout the school system is important to me & advocating for other parents like myself, St Nicholas Church Of England School is a amazing school and has helped our daughter achieve so much in such a short amount of time.

Dedicating time to helping this school I am able to help with a financial background in business I ensure to give my opinions on the financial aspects of how money is well spent throughout the school system. I am also a mother who has background on home education and the current school education system having an open mind into how and what our children are learning, which I feel is very important that we have a updated education system and we are understanding of all aspects of learning to enable all children to flourish. I have a strong willingness to learn and am very excited to see what other parents have to say & offer.
