Our morning started in the hall along with the Year 5 children. The staff from Primary Futures introduced 4 members of NHS staff and we played a yes/no game to work out what their role in the hospital was. One was a midwife, another was an Occupational Therapist, one was a Biomedical Scientist and the fourth was an Operating Department Practitioner. We managed to guess all their roles because of our specific questions!

After the assembly, we went back to our classes and seven NHS visitors spoke to us about their roles in the hospital and the community. We were then allowed to ask questions, and we found out lots of information about their jobs. We found it interesting when the Orthotist told us about the prosthetic limbs. We also loved listening to the Orthoptist who told us about how a premature baby develops and how their eyesight can be affected. We enjoyed looking at the images from the Radiographer – it was amazing to see what the inside of our bodies looks like.

Overall, the morning was informative and interesting. We didn’t know these roles existed and it has inspired us to think about different careers when we are older!
